Saturday Cake Mix Special- Candy Cookies

This is a great way to use up all the Halloween candy you may have left, or that your children have brought home. Butterfingers, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Hersheys, Milkey Ways and Snickers make these cookies ahhhh sooooo yummmy!

1 yellow or chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large or 4-6 small candy bars

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together cake mix, eggs, and oil until completely dissolved and a dough.

Chop candy into tiny pieces and mix into dough. Drop dough in smalls balls onto greased cookie sheet.

Bake 10-12 minutes until lightly brown. Do not overbake. Remove from pan and cool.

I found another cake recipe that sounds great and wanted to make sure you all knew about. It's Depression Cake and the recipe can be found over at The Grocery Cart Challenge, one of my favorite places to go and visit. Gayle has so many great recipes and ideas. Thanks Gayle! Be sure to let her know I sent you over there!

  1. I'll be trying this recipe soon. I bought chocolate intentionally this year so that if we had some left I could bake with it. We only had 19 Tricksters last night, so we have lots of candy left over. Not to mention all the chocolate that Kat brought home from her rounds.

  2. annie I wonder what was up last night. My mother only had about a dozen, she lives in the same town I work. My sis lives in Louisiana and only had about the same. They both usually have well over 50. I wonder if it was because of the weather being so beautiful, people were taking their kiddos to event type places like hayrides, houses etc? Or is it a sign of the times changing?

  3. We only had about 100+ kids last night. Last year we had 250! My DIL seems to think that less kids went out because of the economy because parents could not afford costumes fo them.

  4. I tend to think it's because Halloween isn't just a one-day event anymore. Kat THREE different school related events for Halloween, not to mention going out Trick or Treating on Friday night. Lots of the churches around here have events, both before and on Halloween. Main Street had a daytime event. Even the grocery stores give out candy to kids in costumes. I think either the kids or the parents are picking and choosing which events they'll go to.

It also doesn't help that on our street, the houses are fairly far apart and only about half the homes had their lights on. The next three streets (in our subdivision) where we took Kat were loaded with kids!
