Time To Pay It Forward

Back in October I received a package in the mail from my friend Annie from Real Life Living. Annie blogs about keeping life real, taking care of her husband and daughter, cooking and crafting.

A while back, Annie participated in a Pay It Forward Meme, offering to send a specialized homemade gift to the first three people who responded to her post and asked for one. Of course, I jumped all over that!

Here's what she sent: A crocheted shower back washer & soap buddie made from really soft yearn. And since I dont crochet well, I loved them all and couldn't wait to use them!

Now it's my turn to Pay It Forward! I'm a little late getting this out there (sorry Annie) but felt people were too busy with the holidays to participate.

Here's How It Works:

The first three people to comment on this post (and this post only) will receive a handmade item from me within three months, completely free of charge. Be sure to leave me your email address so I can contact you. I have some great readers and this is a way for me to reward some of you. You don't get a set date, but just know that some day within the next three months, you'll receive a surprise package in the mail from me.

Then you agree to Pay It Forward yourself by sending a gift to the first three people who respond to your post. The gifts should be handmade by you for that person. There are so many options such as a gift from your kitchen, knitting, crocheting, sewing, scrapboooking, something from your computer, etc.

So, who's in? I'm feeling crafty today!

I've been tagged! 7 Amazing Things About Me

I was tagged by Karen who has two blogs; 100 Mile Diet in Calgary and Green Sheep Herders. Both of these blogs are very interesting and I urge you to visit them.

If I'm not mistaken, 100 Mile Diet's concept is to only eat local foods grown/raised within 100 miles of where you live. With her being located in Calgary, during the winter this can be a real challenge if not planned for ahead of time. This means lots of preserving during the peak growing time to sustain throughout the winter.

Green Sheep Herders concept is to reduce the family's carbon footprint once small change at a time. She has many ideas I've never heard or thought of. Most I agree with, some I dont. (Sorry, Karen but I can't give up my Kitchenaid due to a shoulder injury! :) Like Karen says, not all the suggestions are for everyone, but there are many wonderful ideas and you should check out the neat way she has formatted this blog.

What are 7 amazing things about me?

I'm a lot like Karen and find it hard to brag on myself. These things are accomplishments I'm proud of but others might not find them amazing.

1. I have two healthy sons, one who is now an adult and a father himself. Yes, I'm a grandmother! Both my sons have been raised to be respectful and caring individuals. Although they both are onery as hell, they will give the shirt off their back and the last dollar in their pocket to anyone who needs it.

2. When I was employed I only missed two days of work in 8 years.

3. I live in a very rural area after living in a suburb my entire life and have learned how to "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" after being raised by baby boomer parents who thinks everything is disposable.

4. I am proud of the fact that I have learned how to live better on less when it comes to our monthly living expenses, especially our grocery budget. I spend half as much but my pantry and freezer is four times as full as before. This has been done by learning the correct way to utilize coupons on sale items and stocking up when prices are rock bottom. Tracking sales trends on our most used items helped to figure out when a sale was rock bottom.

5. I am proud of the support I give my husband to do his job. He is required to work 12-14 hour days, so the majority of the daily running of our home is left up to me. Most days I'm ok with it and accomplish everything that needs to be done. I do have bad days once in a while and feel very overwhelmed. Me going from a full time employed mom to a full time stay at home mom was a SHOCK! It has taken all summer for me to adjust to being a 24/7 mom. I've never done that before. I commend all the stay at home moms, they have their work cut out for them.

6. I am proud of the fact that I do not squander my husbands money. I have no desire for designer clothes, shoes, handbags or diamonds. I am a very down to earth woman, and easy to please. I love new clothes, shoes, and handbags. But I buy for comfort and durability not name.

7. I am proud of the eco friendly changes that I have been able to implement in our home and to get my son and husband excited about the changes also. We are a team and enjoy working together to find news ways to become more eco friendly. We currently recycle more of our household waste than we send to the landfill.

Like Karen, I do not judge anyone for the choices they have made, but neither do I like to be judged for the choices I've made. We all live in different areas where some things are easier for some to accomplish than others.

I have chosen not to tag any blogs. If you wish to do this and share with me, then leave a comment so I can visit your blog and read your 7 Amazing Things.

I've been tagged again!

It seems in the last two weeks the tags have been flying faster than we can keep up. Some like to do these, some bloggers dont. I look at it this way, it's a chance for me to highlight some of my favorite blogs I read that you might be interested in and vice versa.

Seven random things about me:
1. I enjoy photography, and would like to purchase a better camera. I currently have a Kodak easyshare c330. Have any suggestions on what is good for your money?
2. I hate a repetitive noise (ie dripping faucet, clock ticking, husband drumming on anything but his drums).
3. I'm always trying to get MORE organized.
4. I am an animal lover, I have 5 cats, 4 dogs, 1 parakeet and 9 chickens.
5. I could live without a telephone.
6. I couldnt live without my computer.
7. I love watching tv.

Now I need to tag 7 other people. You are it:
1. Win Your Battle With Finances This blog is not boring! Follow her journey.
2. Coupon Girl Learns To Juggle A busy young woman who has learned to be frugal.
3. Little Frog's World Very informative blog and enjoyable reading
4. Living On The Coast- A newlyweds' great deals and day to day life.
5. Leta's Page Random thoughts from a Carolina girl on her life and life in general
6. Life is Hard-Just keep swimming. A womans heartbreaking story of her attempt to regain custody of her son after her divorce.
7. Life is Just Getting Started A woman who loves using coupons and sharing her life.

Please post 7 random things about yourselves, tag 7 other people and then go to their blog and let them know. I know not everyone likes being tagged, so if you don't want to play with us, no big dealio! But I like to read these short snipets about everyone! :)

Tag! You're It. 3 Random Things About Me

I've been tagged by Ginger at Attention Target Shoppers for a meme. Although I only get to shop at Target once in a while, I still find information over there usueful to me. Anyways, back to the tag, I have to write three random things about myself.

The rules for '3 Random Things':
1. Post 3 random things about yourself.
2. Link to the person who tagged you in your post.
3. Tag at least 5 other bloggers.
4. Let them know you've tagged them by commenting on their blog with an invite to participate.

THREE RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
1. I'm very disorganized. No matter how hard I try to get organized, I'm not. I waste a lot of time "searching" for things and "searching" for ways to get organized.

2. I collect cookbooks. My favorites are from the church fundraisers. Those women knew how to cook!

3. I HATE HATE HATE shopping. So to make it more enjoyable to me, I've turned it into a game. I try to only buy things on sale and with coupons and strive to get them for FREE or as close to FREE as I can.

Here, in no specific order, is the 5 I am tagging:
