Monday Harvest

I've harvested all my bunching onions, sweet candy onions, yukon gold and red potatoes. The potatoes were a decent harvest but not as good as it should have been. It just got too hot & dry way to early this year.

The sweet candy onions grew to a wonderful size!

This is a 5 gallon bucket full of red potatoes.

The yukon golds are in a banana box. This is the third harvest from them. The first harvest was a 5 gallon bucket full. Although the yield could have been a lot better, I'm still pleased we got as many as we did.

The tomatoes, mainly 4th of July's are needing picked daily. We did pick two romas. The plants are full and just need to ripen!

I didn't have time to weigh any thing this morning. But it was a great harvest day!

    1. The onions are sweet. They grew way bigger than I've ever grown before. Next year I want to grow some red onions.

  2. Those are picture perfect harvests. The onions are so well formed and the potatoes look really good sized and unblemished. And those gorgeous tomatoes! :) We are not into our prime tomato season yet so I am just getting a single early (small) ripe tomato now and again and will have to be much more patient for the main crop tomatoes to be on and ripe.

    1. The potatoes were grown in build as you grow potato bins. They were harvested by hand, no shovel used.

    1. You will have more of a variety of tomatoes than we did. I'm not good at growing heirloom tomatoes, though I continue trying.

  7. Is the name of the tomatoes actually "4th of July"? If so, wow. That really is pretty accurate as to timing.

    Great harvests.

    1. Yes they are called 4th of July tomatoes. They are a hybrid though. http://www.burpee.com/vegetables/tomatoes/slicer/tomato-fourth-of-july-hybrid-prod000988.html

In the past, I usually have only harvested two or three by July 4th. This year they really went to town.
