I won these handmade decorated frames in a giveaway from The Single Nester.
She was celebrating her blog reaching 100 followers. Aren't they great! If you havn't checked her blog out be sure to do so. She blogs about crafts, life, dating, shares the love of the the color turquoise and keeps it real.
Now it's my turn to host a giveaway. I was recently asked to review the book "Be Thrifty-How To Live Better With Less" by Pia Catton and Califia Suntree and to host a giveaway for 2 of my readers to win this great book. Yep you read that right.... TWO LUCKY READERS will win this fabulous book.
BE THRIFTY isn’t about being cheap—it's about being smart and self-sufficient. Drawing on the work of experts in every field, it shows how to cut your food bills, cut your credit card debt—cut your own hair. Financial writers explain how to create a budget, and the thriftiest ways to invest in the market. Professional chefs give step-by-step advice for shopping for the cheapest, tastiest ingredients—and offer recipes that put those ingredients to good use, from homemade Chinese "take-out" to the frugal barbecue. There are also tips for building a budget music collection, setting up a “no fail” vegetable garden, how to sell your home without a realtor; the basics of negotiating a killer deal on a car and much more.
To enter, follow the rules below:
The giveaway is open to US and Canada only.

One of my favorite thrifty things to do is use our public library. If you weren't giving this book away, I would be adding it to my list of books on reserve at the library (and still may, if I don't win...LOL!)
ReplyDeleteOur library also has many kids' programs, geneology classes, reading groups, and music/movie rentals, all for free!
I'm already a follower!
ReplyDeleteI'll try to get a post up on my blog a little later today. :)
I like to check out the day old bread store. The bread is just as good as the full price super markets.
ReplyDeleteI am follower!
ReplyDeleteWe make sure that we use the store discount cards.
ReplyDeleteWe whop by flyer and then look to see what coupons we have that match.

ReplyDeleteMy thrifty tips are to use coupons whenever possible and use the library. I've cancelled almost all of my magazine subcriptions since I can check out magazines at my local library.
ReplyDeleteI put a post on my blog about this post. I don't link well but I tried!
ReplyDeleteMake your own bread products. It doesn't take alot of skill to make basic bread. If you work and don't have the time, find a breadmaker at a yard sale for very cheap and use that(for the whole process or just for the mixing/kneading/proofing stages).
ReplyDeleteYou will save money AND control what goes into what you eat(make it healthier).
Win/Win!
I am now a follower and thanks for following me too! ;-)
ReplyDeleteOk...I posted about the giveaway on BOTH of my facebook ids...lol
ReplyDeleteTo be thrifty, I combine coupons and sales, shop where we can get gas rewards and never by "convenience packaged" items, like cut up vegetables. You can save a lot by doing a little work yourself!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thrifty money is to use coupons! Pair the coupons with sales and really get more bang for your buck!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite money saving tips is keep track of your spending. We do not spend a dime without writing it down. Taking into account what we spend really keeps spending down, and it gives us a clear picture of where we can make cuts when necessary. Another favorite is drink water. We bought a good filter for our faucet to keep the water clean and our costs down. :) Thank you for the giveaway. Looks like a great book!

My favorite money saving tip is to be on the lookout for packaging changes, especially for hair care products, because the when the manufacturer changes to a new look, the stores put the old product on clearance. I've been able to buy my favorite conditioner for $.64 at RiteAid drugstore when they were just trying to get the old packaging off their shelves. Incredible deals!

My favorite thrifty tip is to use cloth napkins with your meals.
ReplyDeleteBesides being much better for the earth, since you don't have the waste, they are also much better for your wallet since you don't have to keep buying paper napkins that you use once and throw into the ground.
I am a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the chance to win!
Plan meals every week. That way you don't waste what you have, and you can limit impulse purchses at the store.
ReplyDeleteI wash almost all laundry in cold water and hardly ever use the dryer.
