My $65 koi pond and free iris

My iris' have starting blooming!

Love the petitie mini's although they have no fragrance. I love purple and yellow together.

This baby blue iris is huge! They grow almost 3 foot tall and each bloom is slightly bigger than my fist.

Their detail on their falls are so dainty and soft.

AND this one has a wonderful fragrance! I bought it at the farmers market for $2.50.

There are more that will be blooming tomorrow that I will be able to pick for a big bouquet. I love fresh cut flowers especially when they are FREE because I grew them myself! 99% of my plants and flowers I received from trading through the mail with members of a garden club. Most of the iris' I didn't even trade. Members were thinning their beds and ship them to new members free of charge. What a deal, hugh?

Here's a look at my koi pond right off my front porch. My husband dug it for me for Mother's Day 5 years ago. We collected the rocks from a friends farm. Hubby found the roofing material and carpet in the trash that we used to line it with and I found the dairy farm tub in the trash that I made the filter out of. The filter material {buffing machine pads) I found at a thrift store for $2. I bought the pump new and a couple fittings {$60} and they usually last three years. The total cost for this 3'wx6'lx3.5'deep koi pond was $65 and all the love my husband put in it for me.

I love the sound of the waterfall. It's so relaxing.

  2. Oh, I love irises. They're so delicate. Mine are stil growing and don't even have buds on them yet, so I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. I think my favs are my dark purples and my bright orange orientals. Thanks for sharing the pics!
