Chasing Away The Winter Blues

I don't know about you all, but I am done with winter! I am so happy the sun has shined here for the last two days, but it has given me spring fever..... BAD! So I've been putting away the winter colors and bringing out the spring. One of my favorite ways to bring spring to the main area of our home is to redo my table.

Yellow is always a great spring color! Here's what I did...

A lighter table cloth would be more spring-y, until I "find" one, this will have to do. Everything was items I already had on hand (most came from thrift stores or gleened from the trash), so it was easy on my budget. Fresh cut flowers that fill the room with their wonderful scent always helps my mood also.

So do tell, what do you do to chase away the winter blues? Do you change certain decor in your home from season to season?

I'm off to iron that table cloth!

  1. I am so ready for Spring, too!! I get out new candles. In the winter, I burn cinnamon, pine, etc., but in the Spring, I burn the more 'fruitier' scents!!

  2. I haven't done much yet but look longingly at my clotheslines this morning. My sis hangs her laundry year round unless there is precip. coming down, but I'm not as pioneer-tough as she is. But I swear the first day it hits 50, I'm putting out some wash. :)

Shelley's candle idea is good. I think I might have some "clean cotton" or "fresh linen" scented candles somewhere. There I go with the laundry theme again...

  3. Shelley that's a great idea! Our sense of smell is an important element in decorating. Since it's still too cold to open the windows I can pull out my bargain candles I've gotten with coupons the past few months. I have that big Glade 3 wick soy candle CVS had on special in a current & acai scent. Plus a ton of those little Glade votive candles in sheer white cotton. Thanks for the idea.

Annie lol, I love seeing laundry gently blowing in a breeze on a sunny spring day..... as long as it's my neighbors laundry! haha I don't have a clothesline. I'm planning on getting one soon though.

  4. Hi Lisa,

I'll let you know when winter leaves. It is snowing here now and we should have 1-2ft. by the time it is over. The first thing I do though to make it feel springy is to buy some daffodils. Once I am in the new house...they will grace my table in my morning room!

  7. Thanks for coming by my blog, I'm always happy to find other frugal bloggers I hadn't seen around before. One thing I'm really trying to work on is making more time to get "crafty". My mom made me a beautiful winter wreath for super cheap and I feel like that's something I'm going to try to do to carry me through the seasons for fun! Have a great weekend.
