I'm now officially unemployed. THANKS BUSH

I went to work today like any other. I work/worked for two brothers that owned two companies. First thing this am, I did payroll; for both companies. Then took care of all the payroll taxes; for both companies. Made out the transfer of money to cover payroll. Then moved onto the payables and took care of all those; once again for both companies. Once done with the payables, made out the deposits.

On Fridays I'm there by myself. The dispatcher has the day off. So in between all my regular duties I answer the phones and dispatch a couple of trucks.

At quiting time, I shut the office down and as I opened the door to leave one of the brothers said "What do you think about going on unemployment"

My response "Why?"

He replied "I just dont have any work, you'll make just as much on unemployment."

I responded "And I suppose you want this to start Monday?"

He replied "Yeah"

I responded "Thanks for the notice" and closed the door.

After 8 years of me being loyal to them, missing 4 days of work, forgoing raises for the last three years, doing more than was expected of me, working on certain things at home in my own time with out any compensation... I felt like I had been punched in the stomach.

I didnt cry until at dinner when my hubby told me he would be working again tomorow (Saturday) and Sunday since we would need the money. He also worked last Saturday and Sunday. So how many days in a row will that be for him without a day off?

I have no idea if this is temporary or permanent. I have no idea when my insurance will end. I have no idea where I'm headed right now.

But the one thing I do know is, I will survive although I'm very angry and the number one person on my list is GEORGE BUSH.

  1. Sorry to hear of the job loss. Don't you just love it how they wait till all the work is done for the day before telling you? Your in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Lisa- I'm so sorry this happened to you. Unfortunatly it is not uncommon in this environment. Your boss handled this in a very poor manner- is there any severace, vacation you haven't taken but are owed, etc? Health insurance is a doozy too- you probably have access to COBRA coverage if you were insured at your job, but change in employment status may also let you enroll on your husband's policy. Also check with your boss and see if this is really permanent or a furlough type thing that he didn't explain well... I'll keep you & your family in my thoughts!

  3. Lisa,

  4. Sorry to hear you lost your job! Bush is not the only one to blame...Clinton started the ball rolling when he signed a bill allowing companies to start out-sourcing to other countries. Also, this economy started going down when 911 happened...something that Bush did not ask for. Maybe if Clinton would have went after the terrorist in the 90's when they were attacking us then (which they did numerous times)..then maybe 911 would not have happened and our economy would not be like this today! We will see what a great job Obama does considering he has the same views as the Clintons! So please don't blame just Bush!

  5. Let me begin by saying that I have been following your blog for awhile and even had a link to yours on the side of my blog. After this post, this will no longer be the case. Your ignorance is amazing. If you really believe that George Bush alone is responsible for the state of the economy, then it goes to show that you must be of a rather low class. No one person is responsible for the state of the nation just as no one person will be the savior. There are a number of factors that come into play. Perhaps now that you have an abundance of free time on your hands you will be able to do some research and see why things are the way they are.

Your ignorance is also well documented based on the fact that you simply walk out on your boss. Why not express your concern and displeasure with them? Mention your loyalty and sacrifices and what not and tell them that you would have expected a little notice. The fact that you are upset that you weren't given any notice is evident, and yet, instead of being angry with your bosses, your most angry at George Bush? That is completely illogical.

Thanks for the past posts that you have created. It's a shame that your ignorance has forced me to stop reading and has also forced me to pull your link from my site, but I refuse to allow an ignorant person to be linked to my site.

  6. I can't believe the last two comments. She just lost her job. Why say mean and hurtful things when this is a very tough situation for her.

I am sorry you lost your job and I will be praying for you and your family. But you are smart and I know it will all work out. You may find that this is a huge blessing and you will be able to move onto something even better.

  7. I can't believe how callous that was! I can't even fathom how someone you've worked for can be so thoughtless. I am so sorry you have to go through this.

  11. This is hard right now just keep reminding yourself of your great qualities as a person and employee. You will find something. For every door that closes a window opens. In the meantime make a list of questions to ask your boss, about health insurance, vacation/personal time and then make a call to unemployment and get that ball rolling immediately. Your a strong lady. You can do it.

  16. Lisa,
*hugs* I'm so so sorry to hear about your job. Hope you'll find something better soon and do talk to your boss for compensation for past 8yrs - you should be able to get some kind of severance. I wish I could help you but you're in my thoughts.

To the "anonymous" who attacked Lisa in your pro-Bush rant: Please do your own research. Clinton didn't start terrorist - Bush senior supported them and supplied them with guns and money in so cal support against Russian troups at the time. What did he think they were going to do when troups leave? go back to work? when they get loads of mulah for brandishing weapons? welcome to creating your own mess. And yes, politics of Bush junior just added to it and made it much much worse. All those billions of dollars wasted on illegal war could have been spent on intrasctructure here in US. So do your own research before you attack Lisa.

  17. I am so sorry for your job loss. These are tough times right now, but you are smart, resourceful and tough! So you'll be fine.

As for the jerks who left the bad comments, they need to do their own research rather than spout Ann Coulter-isms to justify their poor judgement in the voting booth in 2000 and 2004!

Hang in there! You can do this!

  18. Wow Lisa I am speenchless I noticed that you were not posting on the board that often but I sometimes get busy with my family that do not check out the blogs as often. Sorry to hear about your job, the state of the economy is just out of control. Hang in there and have faith that you will find a better job, do not let anyone put you down and remember you are a strong woman who will come out of this with a lot more wisdom. Thank god for our stockpiles. I have an envelope going out to you on Monday with lots of coupons for your pupies. Take care and remember that we love you and admire you!

  19. Oh, Lisa! I am so sorry to read this. And your anger is warranted. At our past president, at your employers, and at the economy. Thank you Jenny for pointing out how ignorant those anonymous posters were. Lisa is without a doubt in the right.

Your family will be in my prayers.

  21. Dear Lisa;
I'm so sorry to hear about your job! And your boss is just unbelievable as far as any kind of sensitivity or empathy. I sure think you are entitled to be angry. From how you described your job, it makes me wonder if they have any human resources staff there at all to help you with the transition. Hang in there - you are a strong & competent person, and you know lots of us are sending prayers and positive thoughts your way. And shame on people who make nasty comments "anonymously".
    Take care - tenney

  22. Lisa-

I'm so sorry to hear of your job loss. And for your boss to behave that way...I'm speechless. It's ridiculously unprofessional. After an experience like that, you have a perfect right to be mad at anyone you want to be mad at! I wish you the best of luck, and as someone else said, you are strong. I know you guys will bounce back from this.

    *hugs*

  23. Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear of the job loss, and the way you were told is unbelievable! Some people just don't know how to communicate with others.

And don't let "anonymous" get to you with the hateful comments. You have the right to be angry with anyone you want. I don't get people who can't deal with those who don't agree 100% with them.

  26. Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry to hear this! I cannot believe your boss would let you go in that way. How unthoughtful and unappreciative of all the time and work you've done for them.

  27. Oh Lisa! I just saw this and my heart goes out to you! I will write you later.

  28. hitenney I was the human resources there. :(

Emily Believe me, there is NOTHING professional about the company. Absolutely NOTHING! I'm not trying to be facetious, sadly it's true.

Jennifer You're correct, the one who told me has no communication skills what so ever.

Ursula I'm hoping it's only temp also.

Lindsay Your support is appreciated, thank you.

frugalsuz thank you so much. I have to admit, it took me by surprise.

Precious Thank you, and I would like that. I've missed our talks.

  30. Lisa - Sorry about the bad news. I am here if you need me :) Perhaps this will lead to you being employed somewhere better. And you have a right to your own opinions. Others can take them or leave them. Good riddance.

  31. Lisa,
*hugs* I am really sorry to hear about this. Your anger is justified, you do not need to explain it to anyone. This is your blog to post as you see fit. If you need to vent to all of us, you know that we are here for you. If you need any q's for you or your furbabies, let us know to get them out to you. Again, I am really sorry this happened to you. Hopefully they realize just what they have lost by losing you.

  32. LB- my heart goes out to you in this time of economic hardship for everyone. Only a true coward who has no concept of what is going on is this world right now would be arrogant enough to post such a thoughtless comment on your blog. Stay strong and I have no doubt that you will be back up on your feet in no time!

  33. So sorry to hear about your job loss. I'm coming into this late, I don't really check the blogs on the weekends. But this economy is just so horrible. It seemed as though you WERE busy and HAD work to do. It's not like you sat a twiddled your thumbs waiting for work. Geesh.

And for those 'anonymous' posts, don't let them get to you my dear. I'm assuming they posted as anonymous, so right there, they are too afraid to say who they really are, they must be hiding something! LOL. But seriously, don't let them get to you. Calling you ignorant b/c you blame the past president on your job loss? Who else do you blame? When Clinton was in office, the economy flourished, when Bush was in office, see what happened RIGHT before he left? And now Obama had to step into this mess and everyone thinks HE will be to blame...WRONG, it happened during the Bush administration. It doesn't matter if you're republican, democrat, independent, etc, it's fact! And blaming/being mad at Bush is just another way of saying that you're mad at the BIG BIG Boss...don't get much higher then the President that caused it!

    Keep your head up girl!!!!!!!!!!!
