On The Hunt

Yesterday I received notice at work (along with one other woman in the office) that starting today my hours have been cut to 5 hours a day due to lack of business. This short notice makes it hard to stick by a budget. Actually it makes it hard to budget at all! It couldnt have come at a worse time.

The next few days/weeks will be spent concentrating on either finding a new full time job or a part time job to supplement this one.

I made four contacts yesterday after I got off work. I had planned on making a trip to CVS. The contacts are high profile people that come in contact with many people in a wide area on a dialy basis. So even though they didnt have any work for me, hopefully they will hear of something and let me know.

Is it wrong for me to feel angry? I have worked for this company for 8 years, I am a trust worthy, responsible, loyal employee, who doesnt miss work. I am the bookkeeper for two brothers who are partners and own two companies. Therefore they have one bookkeeper for two companies. They get two companies done for the price of one.

I'm looking at going in a different direction from bookkeeping in my job hunt. So wish me well and keep me in your prayers I find something and SOON!

  1. Wow, what are they going to do for a bookkeeper? Is business slow enough that your reduced hours would be enough? I sure hope you find something soon!

  2. First, I'm very sorry to hear that your work hours are being cut. I think it's absolutely normal and human to feel angry and perhaps even a bit bitter about this.

On, the other hand, try to think of the positive. There is always an opportunity in every adversity. If you do not lose this job, how will God provide a new, better, more fulfilling job that will satisfy you and your familys need. I know it's hard and much easier said than done-- but try to thank God for this course of events because how can you receive your blessings of another job and moving in another direction if you're still (dare i say "stuck") in the current one.
Think positive. You will get a better job that pays even more.
    *hugs*

  3. I am so sorry to hear this! I will be thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way. This might be a good opportunity for you though. Maybe you could find some clients and set up a small business that you could do from home?

  4. Wow...i'm so sorry to hear about your situation! You are not wrong to be angry....I was in a similar situation as an assistant for a company who owned 4 restaurants/catering halls and I was the only assistant! I was told that I was being moved to another location and then was let go all together. I found out they had to hire 3 people to do the job they let me go for and thought they could "do themselves." The Lord has a plan for us all. I was lucky enough to be able to become a SAHM and I KNOW that you will find a path that will be perfect for your family. You're in my prayers.

  5. There are jobs still open where I work. They are seasonal full-time, but would beat not having a job at all. It's quite a drive for you though. I will email you more info just in case you want to look at it.
