Perfect No Fail Peach Cobbler

I was feeling extra loving yesterday and decided to fix hubby a Peach Cobbler. This is an old family recipe that my mother, cousins and I make all the time for our men. It is best served warm with ice cream or cool whip.

1/2 cup butter or marg
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup milk
1 32oz. peaches or blackberries, drained

Preheat over to 350.
Melt butter in a 9x13 baking dish/pan by placing in oven for a couple minutes. Do not get butter very hot. Just warm enough to melt.
In a separate bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder and milk. Mix well.
Pour butter over mixture while it's in the bowl. DO NOT STIR.
Here's what it will kind of look like. Yours probably wont look so brown. I found myself low on white sugar and had to use half brown sugar. Thats why the color looks a little different.

Arrange fruit in bottom of 9x13.
Pour mix in bowl over fruit. DO NOT STIR!

Bake at 350 for approx 30 minutes. Top should be set and lightly browned like a biscuit.

Mine is a caramel color due to the brown sugar I used. But it should be firm to the touch with a light crust on top. Mmmmmmm, yummy!

Serve with ice cream or cool whip.

  1. Looks delicious!! I'll definitely try it once I get good peaches or a sale on canned peaches. I get irritated just like you do with how CVS does that with their deals. It is because it is assumed by corporate there is enough stock of item X to last the 3 days of the(Saturday it secretly starts in computer, Sunday, Monday) until truck delivery on Tuesday. I think it is a failure on inventory management of the corporate analysts. I know for a fact they know ahead of time obviously what is going to be on sale next week since we can see those ads on HCW. So why don't they send it the Tuesday before? I used to say that even when I worked there because it seemed like whenever I was covering register I spent more time writing Rainchecks(because I always got stuck on Register on Monday nights) then helping customers check out. It was ridiculous. I'm going to go to CVS today and lunch see how it looks there.

  2. Home today because of the ice (no way I'm driving 25 miles with half a million other crazy people in this weather). I think this would be great to try today; I have peaches and a can of cherry filling in the pantry and a bag of mixed berries in the freezer. Can't decide which to use. :)
