CHOCO PEANUT BUTTER BARS

I always have Oats, Peanut Butter and all the staples to make these on hand. I usually have chocolate chips stashed in the freezer, but found none yesterday. I think I was robbed! Had to pay $3 for a pack of chips today!

I love cookie bar recipes. If you have a special bar recipe, please share it with me!

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1-1/2 cups QUAKER Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 cup (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Heat oven to 350°F.

Beat brown sugar, margarine and peanut butter until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.

Add flour and baking soda; mix well. Stir in oats and chocolate pieces.

Spread into ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and edges pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely. Cut into bars.

  1. Lisa, you gotta try that bar recipe that I posted on my page. So easy and you don't have to turn on the oven. It will be a great one to do in the summer.

  2. amiyrah are you referring to the toasted oats cereal bar? If so, it's on my list to try! It will be a good one to make when it's too hot for the oven like you say.
