I love Crazy Walgreens Deals!

This post is rather long, but you gotta read it. I am excited to get $102 worth of merchandise for a little over $9.

Yesterday I was able to get out and make a trip to Walgreens to use the 15% off fans & family coupon. By using my Walgreens Rewards card, the Fans & Family 15% off coupon stacked with other manufacturer coupons, rain checks and sales, I was able to get some GREAT deals. I started out with NO register rewards.

Transaction #1 My sister and I both wear contacts. Contact soution is very expensive and you go through a lot of it!
1 Complete Multi Contact Solution $7.99
minus F&F discount $1.20
minus manufacturer coupon $2.00
Total OOP $5.19
I received a Register Reward for $8 on the contact solution! Making this deal a $2.81 MONEY MAKER!

#2 I have 4 dogs and 5 cats. One of the dogs was a rescue and 3 of the cats are outside ferral cats. I know a lot of you think "why does she worry about the outside cats? Don't feed them, they'll go away!" I'm an animal lover and can't bear to see anything go hungry. So yes, I feed these three outside cats. When we moved in, the mother had just given birth to 7 babies. I found homes for all but mamma and her set of twins. Pet food around here is a major expense.

3 bags of Purina Puppy Chow $15
2 bags of Purina Cat Chow $10
minus F&F discount $3.75
minus manufacturer coupon $8.00

Poise Pantiliner $3.39
minus manufacturer coupon $3.39 (wags catalina)

Penway 12 Pencils .09 (used for a filler)

Used the $8 register reward from transaction #1
Total OOP $5.77 for 5 bags of pet food, 1 package of pantiliners and 12 pencils!!
Received a $5 register reward back Purina pet food deal!!

#3
1 Complete Multi Contact Solution $7.99
minus F&F discount $1.20
minus manufacturer coupon $2.00

1 Huggies 24 pack Girls Nighttime pullups (not pictured. delivered to g-daughters on way home.) clearanced $3.19
minus F&F discount .48
minus $1.50 manufacturer coupon
24 pullups for $1.21??? Crazy deals, but I'm lovin it. :)

1 Penway 12 Pencils .09 (used for a filler)
used the $5 Register Reward from #2
Total OOP $1.08
Received a $8 register reward back for the Complete Contact Solution! KA-CHING!

#4 Time for FREE coffee & toilet paper
3 bags of Mr Coffee Coffee (clearanced to $1.99 each) $5.97
minus F&F discount .90

Quilted Northern Toilet Paper $4.29
minus F&F discount .65

used the $8 register reward from #3
Total OOP .72 (.40 was tax) I love getting FREE stuff that we use EVERYDAY. I try not to buy stuff that we won't use just because it's on sale....... unless it's a money maker!

#5 Time to use some rainchecks. Rainchecks can really come in handy when fillers are needed. And what a great time to use them! Today I received another 15% off on those rainchecks!

1 Complete Multi Contact Solution $7.99
minus F&F discount $1.20
minus manufacturer coupon $2.00

3 Penway Pencil Cases (raincheck used) .39 each
minus F&F discount .06 each

1 Papermate 30 Mechanical Pencils (raincheck used) .99
minus F&F discount .15
Total OOP $7.17
Received $8 register reward back

#6
1 Complete Multi Contact Solution $7.99
minus F&F discount $1.20
minus manufacturer coupon $2.00
Total OOP $5.19
I received a Register Reward for $8 on the contact solution! More FREE MONEY!

#7 much later on way home I decided since the size was going to be ok, I needed to use my last coupon and get them while the getting was good. I didnt recv the F&F discount on this transaction.

1 Huggies 24 pack Girls Nighttime pullups (not pictured.) clearanced $3.19
minus $1.50 manufacturer coupon
Total OOP $1.83

So here is how it all boils down... I spent $25.12 out of pocket and I still have 2 $8 register rewards to spend between now and 8/18/08. If I spend these two RR's on merchandise that does not produce any register rewards then this shopping trip will only cost me $9.12 out of pocket for these items:

5 bags of cat/dog food (approximate retail value $25)
4 bottles of Contact solution (approximate retail value $25)
1 package of Quilted Northern Toilet paper (approximate retail value $4)
3 12 oz bags of Mr Coffee coffee (approximate retail value $12)
1 30 pack Papermate automatic pencils (approximate retail value $4)
3 zippered pencil cases (approximate retail value $3)
2 12 pack pencils (approximate retail value $2)
1 Poise pantiliner (approximate retail value $3)
2 24 packs nightime Huggies Pull ups not pictured (approximate retail value $24)

TOTAL retail value $102

AND I received a survey offer that may get me another $5 gift card.

This is why I use coupons and watch the sales (especially items that produce register rewards). Using the 15% Fan & Family coupon saved me over $13 today. I feel I can stretch our actual dollars to be spend out of our budget and provide more for less.

Did any of you use the 15% Fans & Family coupon at Walgreens yesterday? What great buys did you get?

  1. That's so nice that you take care of the 'wild ferral' cats! I did last year, and lo and behold, the cat I was feeding is now my Lucky. She's now a strictly indoor cat. She's my first cat ever (DH and I are dog people). Lucky has turned us into cat lovers now. She doesn't like dogs OR other cats (must be from when she was a stray/wild cat). So she's our spoiled little princess.
