1 small finely chopped onion
4 garlic cloves minced
3/4 cup good quality root beer
2 cups ketchup
3/4 cups molasses
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/8 cup liquid smoke
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp hot sauce
Combine onion, garlic and root beer in heavy sauce pan; cook over medium-high heat 5 minutes until onion is tender.
Add remaining ingredients. Stir well and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to medium; cook 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
Great on pulled pork and chicken!
Makes approx. 3 cups
